Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone has a cool name, and now we may know what it is

Sep 28, 2017 #apple

We finally (probably) know the name of the new anniversary version of the iPhone and it’s awesome: iPhone X.

A tweet from game developer Steven Troughton-Smith, which was surfaced by 9to5Mac, shows off a screenshot of new iOS firmware that indicates that the names of the three new iPhones will be iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.

While not confirmed, it’s a good bet that the iPhone X name would be attached to the 10-year anniversary, top tier OLED iPhone model if those names turn out to be accurate.

However, despite this apparent massive leak, Apple has been known to be clever when it comes to code names buried in its software. There’s no guarantee that these iPhone names are accurate, but they sure do seem damn close.

There’s been a ton of speculation that Apple might name its anniversary iPhone the “iPhone X,” but this is the closest we’ve come to any kind of (still unsubstantiated) proof.

These names are just the latest in a torrent of details that emerged on Saturday thanks to an early peek at the Golden Master version of iOS 11’s firmware.
